A regular high school student, Ichigo and his sisters are able to sense and see ghosts. One fine night, Ichigo 'borrowed' a Death God, Kuchi Rukia's, powers in order to save his sisters, and since then became forced by Rukia to moonlight as a part time Death God. His main jobscope is slaying Hollows. He later acquired a soft toy companion (Kon), with a Modified Soul locked in it, and could help transform Ichigo to Death God mode without the help of Rukia. When Kuchiki Byakuya and Abarai Renji came to arrest Rukia, Ichigo tried to stop them only to get whacked pretty badly. He then underwent training by Urahara Kisuke, the quirky owner of the Urahara Store, and entered Soul Society with a few of his classmates and a talking cat to save Rukia. Talent: Keeping a strand of hair tucked neatly between her eyes at ALL times Bleach is centered around the story of how a Death God, Kuchiki Rukia, transfered her powers to a human, Kurosaki Ichigo in order to save him from evil monsters called Hollows. Having stripped of her powers, Rukia was unable to return to the Soul Society, where she belongs, and had to live in the human world as a high school girl, forcing Ichigo to assist her in fighting the Hollows. The ramifications of transferring her Death God powers to a human means committing a crime punishable by death. And soon as she was making herself comfy being a human, she was captured back to Soul Society by her childhood best friend Abarai Renji, and her brother Kuchiki Byakuya. While she waits in the Tower of Penitence for her execution, a few of her high school friends along with Kurosaki Ichigo and a mysterious talking cat embarked on the journey from the living world to the Soul Society to save her. The most striking feature of Kuchiki Rukia is the strand of hair that falls in the middle of her face. She has a dead serious expression most of the time except when communicating with her classmates, in which she would adopt the sweet high school girl image. Behind the stoic exterior however, is a tender heart which cares for Ichigo. She loves drawing, but really sucks in it.  Name: Inoue Orihime Age: 15 Birthday: September 3 Zodiac Sign: Virgo Gender: Female Height: 157cm Weight: 45Kg Occupation: High School girl Hobbies: Experimental cooking Inoue Orihime is your typical high school sweetie, super well-endowered and cute, with a constant zoned-out look. Her elder brother died when she was young and returns as a Hollow monster to haunt her when she becomes a teenager. Getting haunted by a Hollow was probably not as traumatizing an experience for Orihime as getting pounced on and molested by a lesbian classmate. (Her brother got liberated by Kurosaki Ichigo and Kuchiki Rukia, became a normal soul and went to Soul Society. Anyway this is about Orihime) After the incident with her brother, Orihime slowly began to see ghosts and is one of the random select classmates of Rukia to suddenly be bestowed with supernatural powers. Apparently, in her blue flower hairclips hide little spirit fairies with extraodinary powers to help her fight. So together with Yasutora Sado, Uryuu Ishida, Kurosaki Ichigo and Yoruichi, a talking cat, they set out to rescue Kuchiki Rukia.  Name: Yasutora Sado Age: 15 Birthday: April 7 Zodiac: Aries Gender: Male Occupation: Student Hobbies: Saying random stuff Tall, dark (and uh, handsome?), Yatsutora Sado, also known as Chad, is another one of the characters in Bleach who doesn't exactly seem very fond of talking to people- unless of course you're a soul of little boy trapped in the body of a cockatiel. Apart from being able to look like he's brooding all the time, he apparently also takes an odd interest in wearing Hawaiian-print shirts. Although Chad comes across as a guy who has always been defined by his superhuman physical strength, we see that he is an empathetic guy who values friendship. And beneath all that strength and violence he displays when he seeks to annihilate his opponents with his groovy-looking armored arm, we find that the only reason he does so is for the good of those he wants to protect. An all-in-all good guy, Yatsutora is also one of Kurosaki Ichigo's friends who acquired special abilities and would later on fight along Ishida Uryuu, Inoue Orihime and Kurosaki Ichigo in the rest of the story. | |

|  Name: Urahara Kisuke Age: Really Ancient Birthday: December 31 Zodiac: Capricorn Gender: Male Occupation: Manager of the Urahara Store Hobbies: Fanning himself with a mini fan Urahara Kisuke, at first glance, is a laid back manager of his very interesting Urahara Store. As much as we're concerned, he sells preternatural stuff to preternatural beings. Most of the time, Urahara is seen wielding his mini fan and his staff which is actually his soul slayer.  Name: Ishida Uryuu Age: 15 Birthday: November 11 Zodiac: Scorpio (like I said, Scorpio men are cool) Gender: Male Height: 171cm Weight: 55 Kg Occupation: High school student, Quincy, part time shinigami-rescuer Hobbies: Handicraft. Acting cool. Going to 24 hour sewing shop in the middle of the night. Uryuu Ishida is the Bleach equivalent of Uchiha Sasuke from Naruto. They both have dark blue hair, are both insanely cool, both have orange (yellow) haired protaganist rivals. Hell, they even have the same Japanese voice actors! Ishida differ from Sasuke in that he didn't turn the dark side and became friends with the main cast, following Kurosaki Ichigo and gang into the Soul Society to rescue Kuchiki Rukia. The first we see of Ishida has the quiet high school boy sewing a hanky in the classroom of squealing females. We later learn he's a surviving Quincy, a race of beings with supernatural powers involving shooting laser arrows from laser bows to fight hollows. The Quincies were wiped out by the Death Gods years ago. Hence, Ishida hates Death Gods. When displaying his Quincy skills, Ishida wears a white cape and costume. He brings spare capes around in case they get dirtied. He also has the ability to hide first-aid boxes amidst his very tight clothes, and brings extra cloth to "respond to orders promptly", where he can show off his "myriad of god-like feats" (In a matter of seconds, he turned Kon into a Victorian soft toy). For one who claims he hates Death Gods, he sure took off in a hurry to rescue Rukia. The night Rukia was captured by Kuchiki Byakuya and Abarai Renji, he took a bag of sewing materials and followed Rukia when he sensed immense spirit powers threatening her (and later claimed he suddenly felt like visiting a 24 hour shop and was strolling around her neighbourhood in the middle of the night).  Name: Abarai Renji Height: 188 cm Weight: 78 kg Hair Color: red Eye Color: redish black Blood Type: unknown Birthday: August 31 Occupation: Shinigami, lieutenant of the 6th Division, presently undercover and posing as high school student. Zanpakutou:Zabimaru Character outline Renji is one of the more memorable characters in BLEACH, even if only in terms of his appearance. He has long light crimson hair, usually kept in a high ponytail, and his entire body appears to be covered in tribal tattoo work. How he got these tattoos is unknown, but it appears that with every achievement Renji attains, his tattoos increase as well, from his early days as a shinigami candidate till when he was imprisoned by Byakuya Kuchiki (his tattoos cover his entire back at this point of time). He had no visible tattoos before entering the Shinigami Academy. Like virtually all shinigami, Renji is most often seen in formal Japanese clothing, consisting of the following: A black kimono, black hakama pants and zori sandals. He occasionally tosses in a bit of headgear as well, usually consisting of either a bandana or sets of goggles (created by the 12th Division Technological Department used to sense Rukia's dwindling spiritual pressure in his debut and a different pair for his fight against Ichigo in Soul Society). As far as his personality goes, Renji is about as eccentric as any other shinigami. He varies from smug and cocky in his first appearances to downright angsty and depressed after his major defeats, but shows himself to be an incredibly serious and determined fighter when confronted with an actual challenge. Willing to fight, kill, and die for whatever he believes in, Renji is a dangerous man to those who stand in his way. Renji is also extremely loyal to Rukia Kuchiki, and has shown hints of even being in love with her. Following his second battle with Ichigo, it appears that the two have gained mutual respect and trust toward one-another and share a friendly rivalry. History A young Renji with Rukia during their early years in the Rukongai.Renji Abarai came from the 78th district of Rukongai and grew up as an orphan with several other children, including Rukia Kuchiki. The company of children lived by stealing or hunting for food, but eventually they died one by one until only Renji and Rukia were left, which is when they decided to become shinigami. At the shinigami academy, Renji was admitted into the top class, being very adept at swordsmanship (zanjutsu), although quite inept at demon arts (kidō). His senpai (senior student) was Shūhei Hisagi. At the academy, Renji befriended Izuru Kira and Momo Hinamori, who each proceeded to become lieutenants. His relationship with Rukia became distant after her adoption by the Kuchiki family and he felt he had no place interfering with her life now that she was a noble, despite the fact they both seemed to regret losing the company and confidence of the other. Renji, Kira and Hinamori served under Sōsuke Aizen and Gin Ichimaru in the 5th division, after which Kira and Hinamori (the loyal ones) were put under Ichimaru and Aizen in the 3rd and 5th divisions respectively. The rebellious Renji was moved to the 11th Division (under Kenpachi Zaraki) and rose to the 6th Seat of the division. It is here that he became friends with Ikkaku Madarame, the person who would teach Renji how to fight. Renji was later admitted as lieutenant into the 6th Division. | |

|  Name: Gin Ichimaru Age: Ancient Birthday: Unknown Zodiac: Unknown Gender: Male Occupation: Death God 3rd Division Captain Hobbies: Grinning Scandal: Rangiku Matsumoto Gin Ichimaru, the grinning captain of the 3rd Division of the Death Gods is as elusive as his eyes, which we saw once. They were red. His intentions regarding the deal with Kuchiki Rukia's execution and the death of Captain Aizen of the 5th Division. Ichimaru is the main suspect for Aizen's death. We don't even know if he's a bad guy but since he has that very unsettling grin and the very weird slanted eyes, it is assumed that he is. We have seen him fight once so far in the anime, against the genius prodigy captain of the 10th Division, Hitsugaya Toushiro.  Name: Hitsugaya Toushirou Age: Ancient Birthday: Unknown Zodiac: Unknown Gender: Male Occupation: Death God Rank: Captain of 10th Division Hobbies: Looking pissed when someone mistakes him for a kid Despite his almost childlike exterior, Toushiro Hitsugaya, captain of the 10th division in Gotei 13 is one whose looks belie his solemn nature. Apparently his facial features don’t seem too capable of smiling. Not that we blame him, since Ichigo the Ignoramus keeps calling him ‘kiddo’. Despite that, Hitsugaya’s formidable skills as a shinigami hardly fail to remind others the danger of undermining his abilities. Then again, it wouldn’t hurt if he took a few pointers from his bubbly vice-captain Matsumoto on how to jump around, grin and act like an idiot every once in awhile. Hitsugaya’s zanpakuto (Hyorinmaru) is probably also one of the coolest around, since his ability to manipulate water and ice makes him so reminiscent of Marvel Comic’s Ice Man- only maybe a little less impressive in the specs department. But when released in the form of a dragon-like creature made of ice that merges with Hitsugaya’s physical form, not even Ice man comes close to being comparable to this child prodigy.  Name: Kuchiki Byakuya Age: Ancient Birthday: January 31 Zodiac Sign: Aquarius Gender: Male Height: 180cm Weight: 64kg Occupation: Head of Kuchiki family, Captain of the 6th Division Hobbies: Not saying much Although he comes across just as an emotionless and icy man-of-war, Kuchiki Byakuya is one intriguing character. Despite his seemingly heartless intentions regarding Kuchiki Rukia'sexecution, we realize later on that he’s just a big softie on the inside, conflicted by his feelings. On screen, Byakuya is man of few words and says nothing much most of the time unless he finds the need to. (After all, he spends most of his screen time just looking apathetic) Unlike most other characters in Bleach who contribute to the comic relief from time to time (even the ruthless Zaraki Kenpachi), Byakuya’s character seems almost incapable of that. Still, we love him for the fact that he looks out for the people he cares about, putting his kick-ass shinigami powers to good use when he needs to. This protective streak of his is seen when he rescued Kuchiki Rukia from Yoshi’s attempt to kill her during the Bounto arc. Surely there is more to Byakuya than what meets the eye pertaining to his cold, regal exterior. | |

|  Name: Zaraki Kenpachi Age: Ancient Birthday: Unknown Zodiac: Unknown Gender: Male Occupation: Death God 11rd Division Captain Hobbies: Killing Nickname: Ken-chan Pet: Kusajishi Yachiru Zaraki Kenpachi, the scarred-face captain of the eleventh division of the death gods has a weird fashion sense with torn robes and bells in his hair. His lieutenant is a little pink-haired rose-cheeked girl, Kusajishi Yachiru, who rides on his shoulders most of the time directing him in the wrong direction with a cute giggle. Kenpachi spends most of his screen time in the Bleach anime trying hard to hunt down Kurosaki Ichigo, which he finally did. After all the hoo ha about Kenpachi being insanely strong and insanely insane, it was a surprise he was defeated by Ichigo afterall.  Name:Shiba Kaien Rank: Vice-Captain Zanpakutou info: Shi-Kai: Nejibana Release command: Reverse Swirl Ban-Kai: None Biography: Shiba Kaien served as vice captain of the Thirteenth Division under Ukitake Jyuushiro. When he was alive he often took over Ukitake’s duties because of the captain’s illness. He wears the standard shinigami robes and has a tattoo of the Shiba family’s symbol on his arm. Kaien looks almost identical to Ichigo. The only differences are Kaien’s slightly longer black hair and the bottom eyelashes that seem to run in the Shiba family.  Name:Aizen Sousuke Birthday: May 29 Height: 186 cm Weight: 76 kg Former captain of the 5th Division, leader of the arrancar Sousuke Aizen's character embodies the typical good guy who later reveals himself to be the underdog antagonist in the ultimate struggle for power in Bleach. Usually seen clad in his immaculate captain's uniform, no one (except the cunning guy who wrote the script) would have expected Sosuke to be in fact, a power-hungry person who thinks nothing of taking things to the extreme to attain his goals. Even to the extent of faking his death into a dramatic Shakespearean tragedy (replete with a hell load of gore). Here, his role of a supposed self-sacrificing captain is subverted, and we realize we know nothing of who Aizen might really be. Hinamori's (lieutenant of the 5th Division) realization of Aizen's true nature was seen as devastating, and perhaps because of that we would find Aizen's character much easier to despise. It is, after all quite deplorable to deceive an innocent girl who looks up to you. Then again, his transformation from a quiet intellectual to an undeniably cool villain in the Arrancar arc does make him quite difficult to hate. | |

Ban-Kai → Unknown Biography: With his old-style hat and his flashy flower coat, Kyouraku Shunsui strikes a rather different appearance from all the other Taicho, who wear the white coat symbolizing the Taicho rank on top of their normal Shinigami attire. Kyouraku wears his flower coat on top of that.  Name: Matsumoto Rangiku Age: Ancient Birthday: 29 September Zodiac: Libra Gender: Female Occupation: Death God Rank: Lieutenant Squad: 10 Hobbies: bouncing her b**bies   Name: Mayuri Kurotsuchi Age: Birthday: Gender: [Dubious] Probably asexual Occupation: Captain of 12th Division Hobbies: looking for test subjects in his experiments, and probably a bit of a stalker Mayuri Kurotsuchi, also known as the captain of the 12th division in the Gotei 13, is one whose appearance cuts an uhm… intriguing impression. Hardly ever seen without his mask on, he honestly looks to me like a spawn of the devil or something that came out of Viktor Frankenstein’s laboratory. Nevertheless, his abilities as a scientist and captain are nothing less than impressive although perhaps a tad disturbing. Besides being able to regenerate various parts of his physical form, his ear actually hides a built-in scythe- making Mayuri’s character seem like almost Death personified. What further makes him seem all the more disturbing is the nature of his zanpakuto, known as Ashisogi Jizō, which somewhat resembles a grotesque gargantuan baby plagued by jaundice. Talk about scary.  Name:Stark Stark is a male arrancar who appears to be very lazy; he is seen sleeping when the Espada learn of Aaroniero Arruruerie's death, and does not appear overly concerned by the news. His shoulder-length hair is dark and parted down the middle. He also has a goatee. The remains of his hollow mask consist of a bottom jaw that is positioned like a necklace. His hollow hole is on his sternum, right below the tip of his mask. In comparison to the other espada members he is often shown in a much more comical light, with situations often ending in him on the receiving end of physical abuse. When he is shown to be serious however his personality changes completely; he comes off as reluctant but none the less willing to do what has to be done to complete the task at hand. Stark is an Arrancar in Sōsuke Aizen's army. Stark resembles Shunsui Kyōraku in looks and demeanor in that he is lazy and easy going. Stark is first shown during Aizen's meeting about Ichigo Kurosaki, Yasutora Sado and Uryu Ishida entering Hueco Mundo to save Orihime Inoue, apparently sleeping right before it. Then he is later seen sleeping when the Noveno Espada Aaroniero Arruruerie is killed by Rukia Kuchiki. Stark later appears with the two other strongest Espada in the fake Karakura town to do battle. When the Commander-General uses his Shikai to trap the opposing captains, he narrowly avoids the attack. Abilities: Starks' abilities have yet to be seen other than a form of teleportation (or most likely, a very skilled usage of Sonido) used to avoid both Kenpachi Zaraki's and Ichigo Kurosaki's attacks and to recapture Orihime. Lilinette: Stark's Fracción, Lilinette, is a female arrancar who seems quite mischievous, in that she enjoys waking Stark up in unusual ways: first by shoving her fist in his throat, then by squeezing his testicles. Despite her initially childish behavior, she does seem to show some concern for the ominous occurrences in Hueco Mundo. Currently she is with Stark in the fake Karakura Town. | |

|  Бараган: Barragan is a stout, older, and grumpy arrancar. The remnant of his mask takes the form of a five-pointed crown. He also bears large visible scars on the left side of his chin and across his right eye. He wears a short sleeved jacket with a fur collar. In addition to a standard obi, he also wears a belt consisting of three thick chains attached to a large metal buckler with a sun emblem. He has four Fracción.  Халибел: Halibel is the only current female Espada. She has dark skin, green eyes, spiky blonde hair with several braided locks, and wears an oddly-cut variation of the arrancar jacket that bares about half of her breasts. The jacket is extended slightly in the anime to cover them. Halibel carries her zanpakutō on her back; the sword itself is notably broad and short compared to others and has a western-style guard. The remnants of her hollow mask are partially covered by her collar, but it is clear that she at least has pieces of mask on both sides of her cheeks. Halibel rarely speaks, and when she does it's fairly serious, such as when she tells her subordinates that being afraid of an Espada's released form is a natural reaction.  Name:Szayel Aporro Granz Szayel Aporro Granz is an average-sized arrancar with shoulder-length pink hair and reddish-orange eyes. He is Yylfordt Granz's younger brother, although Szayel is much stronger. The remains of his hollow mask take the form of rectangular-framed glasses that give him a scholarly appearance. His arrancar outfit is slightly different from others in that he wears a shorter hakama that exposes a type of sock covering his shins. His shirt is somewhat different from other arrancar as well, as most arrancar have some form of jacket instead. The sleeves are unnecessarily long, covering the majority of his hands, and it has extra seams on the chest area. In his later appearance he also dons a cape. Szayel is the scientist of the Espada, developing various spiritual equipment for use by the arrancar. Using various methods, one of which involves implanting a subject with rokureichū (a data-gathering device), he is able to analyze the spiritual power of an opponent through those that person has defeated. He is also adept at creating devices that can manipulate and suppress spiritual power, as evidenced in his battle with Renji Abarai. Much like Mayuri Kurotsuchi, he is quite sadistic and seems to view others as little more than research material. Szayel is portrayed as a stereotypical intellectual. He is quite fastidious, often having a plan that he follows down to every detail and throws tantrums when they are disrupted. Szayel is also snobbish and condescending, openly or otherwise, to both allies and enemies, especially to entities who aren't hollows. This behavior also extends to his motive for his allegiance to Aizen, as he hopes Aizen will do away with the non-hollows once he becomes the king of Soul Society. Despite his attitude, Szayel is mockingly considerate enough to quiet his followers and remain quiet himself so his opponent can say something. Szayel sometimes acts without Aizen's approval, and while he is very polite to Aizen in person, gestures he makes when his back is turned suggest that he resents him. Like the rest of the Espada, he possesses numerous Fracción, though his are hollows he personally modified and had made into arrancar by Aizen. Two of his notable subordinates are Lumina and Verona, both of whom are round arrancar with bare feet and sparse hair, though Lumina was eaten to heal her master. Szayel seems to show the same lack of care for his creations as Mayuri, using them as fodder in battle. When Verona speaks up against this after Lumina is devoured, Szayel quiets her by saying he'd just "make a new one" later. Szayel first appears when Aizen gathers the Espada to inform them that Hueco Mundo has been invaded by Ichigo Kurosaki, Uryū Ishida, and Yasutora Sado, and, despite the order to stand by idly, Szayel orders out the Exequias, though Aizen doesn't punish him. He later faces Renji, Uryū, Pesche Guatiche and Dondochakka Bilstin, during which his resourcefulness and analyses of his opponents allow him to come out on top. Szayel finally meets his match with the equally cunning Mayuri Kurotsuchi. Kurotsuchi, having observed Szayel's abilities through organism implanted in Uryū's body, counters by replacing his organs with artificial ones, then gains the upper hand by releasing his bankai and having it consume the Espada. Szayel, however, is reborn through Nemu Kurotsuchi via another of his abilities, which allows him to implant himself into his enemies and reform even after death. But unknown to Szayel, Kurotcuchi had earlier created failsafes in the event his daughter's body was ever consumed or invaded. Among these was a drug that vastly augmented Szayel's reaction time and perceptions, to the point where one second seems like a century to him. With his physical body unable to compensate for his over-enhanced mental state, Szayel is effectively paralysed. Kurotsuchi then proceeds to stab him, informing him that, as a result of the drug, the agony of every injury will seem to drag on for a hundred years. | |
